BUSY...........

We've been a bit busy here lately. We've finished up with Kaylee's soccer league, only to start another that BOTH kids are involved in; we've painted the entire kitchen; we've enjoyed Fall Break and got lots of work done around the house; and we've gotten most of our Trick-or-Treating in already! Here's a few pictures of the kitchen and the kids with their pumpkins.

Jake thought this was pretty cool that he and Kaylee got their names painted on the wall. Even after 2 coats of paint, you can still see their names (only if you know to look.)

We painted 3 walls of the kitchen a tannish color (called Harvest Brown.) The one long wall you see below we painted a dark moss green, almost brown. We're still working on painting the interior doors in the kitchen. Hope to be done with everything before Jake's birthday party.

Kaylee and I spent the day on Saturday with most of the women on Jesse's side of the family. We took 2 vehicles and drove up to Amish Country in Daviess County. We had a blast! I'd have to say the best part was lunch at the Gasthof. It's a buffet style amish restaurant. Kaylee and her cousins couldn't believe they were actually allowed to go back up to the dessert and icecream bar more than once. One of them swore there were over a hundred candy toppings to put on the icecream. They were a hoot. We found some really good deals too. I got some Birthday/Christmas shopping out of the way. I got Jake a wooden tractor, hay wagon, and fencing for his animals. Kaylee found a wooden cradle for her baby dolls. The kids loved seeing the horse and buggies on the road. It was a lot of fun. Kaylee's already asking when we can go back.

Yesterday evening, we drove up to French Lick train station. We took a 2-hour train ride through the Hoosier National Forest, from French Lick to Cuzco and back. The kids loved it. They were especially wide-eyed when the train was stopped by a bunch of robbers on horseback! Jacob wasn't too sure of everything, especially during the shootout between the cops and the robbers. Kaylee was amazed by it all. Unfortunately, my camera quit working on me just as we were being robbed, so I have no pictures of that. PHEWIE!

Camping Trip

We had another great weekend. The camping trip to Patoka was wonderful, other than loosing my voice on Saturday. The kids and Jesse enjoyed that part especially! :-) Kaylee and Jake really liked camping with their buddies. They rode bikes practically all weekend. We were just across the road from the playground, so that came in handy. All day Saturday, the campground had planned activities for everyone. In the morning they had arts and crafts for the kids. They got to make nature books and also made a deer foot print out of plaster. Just down the hill from our campsite was the lake. We went on a little hike and took the kids down there. Saturday evening they trick-or-treated around the campground. Kaylee was a cowgirl (her buddy Caden told her, "You make a better a cowboy than a boy does!") Jake was Spiderman. He really got into the trick-or-treating, running from one site to the next to collect his candy. And other than being early birds and wanting to get up at the crack of dawn, they both slept really well in the tent.

Some of you may know, Jesse has been toying with the idea of doing a little farming on the side. It's something he's always wanted to do and there is no stopping him, even if I wanted to (which I don't, just to clarify!) He's got a few acres rented for next year and plans to put out a small crop. Of course this meant he had to get a tractor... Jacob was so excited when we pulled up and he saw this sitting in our driveway.





Jake looked at me and said, "Is that my tractor?" I said, "Yeah Jake, I guess it is." He replied, "Where's my dad's?" Too funny! And Jesse thought he was finally going to have a tractor he could call his own. Couldn't have been more wrong!

And since I'm all over the place with this post already, I'll add one more quick story. Kaylee came home yesterday from school and showed me how to spell her name in sign language. Is she amazing or what!

Weekend Fun

We had a beautiful fall weekend and squeezed every ounce of fun out of it. This made for somewhat cranky kids last night, but overall it was an enjoyable weekend. Started out spending the day at Holiday World on Saturday. Since it's the end of the season and the water park is closed, the crowds weren't bad at all. They jumped from one ride to the next. Kaylee's favorite ride was the Reindeer ride. Jake's was the Holidog rollercoaster.

Sunday Kaylee had a soccer game. This is her first year playing soccer. She's enjoyed it, but for those of you that know Kaylee she's not one to jump right in and get real aggressive. Yesterday was a different story though! She was one fiesty little girl out there. The whole team was actually. I think some of it had to do with getting their little 5 year old rear-ends beat up last week by the Red Team (hello Sara!) This time they were the ones that were out there scraping for the ball. And it paid off too I might add. They won 3-1 and Kaylee scored her first goal of the season! YEAH KAYLEE!




We finished up the weekend by going to a Turtle Soup party. All the kids at the party were down in the creek building a fort. This suited Kaylee and Jacob just fine. They had a blast carrying and stacking all the rocks and did pretty well I must say.



We're getting geared up and ready to go camping with some friends this weekend. Patoka has their Halloween weekend where the kids dress up and go trick-or-treating around the campground. Should make for a lot of fun. I'll post again when we get back. Everyone take care and have a good week!

From the beginning...

Hi and thank you for being here! First off, let me introduce myself. I'm Erin and I am 29 years old. I've been married for 7 of those years to my sweetie, Jesse. We have 2 children, Kaylee and Jacob. Kaylee is 5 and her two favorite things include princesses and horses. Jacob is 3 and a few of his favorite things include tractors, baseball, and horses.

I'll be honest, my intentions with starting this blog are rather selfish (hey it's my blog!) I hope to be able to keep track of my kids, their interests, the funny things they say and do, and all those things that I know in 20 years I will wish that I had record of. With that being said, I also hope to make it a little easier for family and friends to keep track of us as well. Hopefully all sorts of fun and eventful things happen to us in the coming months so that you have something fairly exciting to read.
